In 1925, with 27 funeral homes already in operation in the Fort Wayne community, our founder D.O. McComb saw a need and took a leap of faith. Having been Superintendent of Allen County Schools for 20 years, Mr. McComb was a trusted name in Fort Wayne and our first location on East Lewis Street served 20 families within the first year.
In 1928, the Lakeside facility opened and in 1940, McComb's sons Walter and David joined the company and expanded the business to serve families not only with funeral needs, but also with emergency ambulance service at no extra cost. In 1958, the Lakeside facility grew to the facility you see today, providing even better service for an increasing demand for exceptional service.
Since 1958, we have added six new locations to serve our families all over Fort Wayne and surrounding communities and in 2012 opened our Tribute Center, which serves crematory needs and provides a multipurpose building with reception area for gatherings such as group meals.
In addition to our many convenient locations, in 1985, Estate Security, Inc. was formed for the sole purpose of pre-arranging funerals, relieving families of unnecessary burden at the time of needs. Estate Security is one of the largest pre-planning firms east of the Mississippi River.
As a part of our continued growth, in 2016 we joined the family of the Dignity Memorial network, allowing us to provide you with the most trusted local service from the largest network of funeral providers in North America.
